It is our mission to provide selfless service to America's deployed Marines and members of all military branches by providing them with a variety of items that may not be readily available to raise morale and readiness until they all come home.
It all began in 2002……with two Moms whose sons had graduated from Klein ISD and had entered the United States Marine Corps. Lonely, missing their boys, needing a connection from another Mom who “got it”, and not receiving the satisfaction they longed for from the National group, the call was put out on the national board, “Looking for Moms in the Houston area”. That was THE beginning of the Houston Marine Moms Organization as Kay and Jay found each other, just two miles down the road in Spring. It didn’t take long for 6 more members to be added from different walks of life and lifetime experiences, but all with one common denominator: sons in the United States Marines and looking for that support system.
In January 2003, the initial group met for the first time at Starbucks at the corner of Louetta and Kuykendahl in Spring, Texas. They grew by leaps and bounds….supported each other through boot, MCT/SOI, MOS, permanent duty stations from D.C. to Japan, and of course, “the War”. They cried together, laughed together and, in true female fashion, even argued together. Just like our sons are brothers, so too, they were sisters.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you. God bless.
